In the version of the article initially published, there was an error in the gating strategy used to analyze flow cytometry data for the mixed bone marrow chimeras presented in Fig. 4a and b. This error resulted in underrepresentation of MHC-II−/− cells in some of the dendritic cell subsets. The gating strategy has been fixed, so Fig. 4 has been updated (as seen in Fig. 1) and the following changes have been made to the HTML and PDF versions of the article.

In the third paragraph of the article, the text “Notably, CD4SP thymocytes broadly support cDC” has been amended to “Notably, CD4SP thymocytes support cDC”. The heading beginning “cDC1 homeostasis and activation require cognate interactions with CD4SP thymocytes…” has been amended to “cDC2 homeostasis and activation require cognate interactions with CD4SP thymocytes…”. In the second paragraph of that section, the sentence “However, MHC-II−/− DC subsets, except for pDCs and aDC2s, were underrepresented, demonstrating a cell-intrinsic requirement for MHC-II in supporting cDC1 and cDC2 homeostasis” has been amended to “However, MHC-II−/− cDC2s, particularly rcDC2s, were underrepresented, demonstrating a cell-intrinsic requirement for MHC-II in supporting cDC2 homeostasis”; the sentence “Thus, MHC-II-mediated interactions with CD4SP thymocytes are required for cDC1 and cDC2 homeostasis, but only for cDC1 activation” has been amended to “Thus, MHC-II-mediated interactions with CD4SP thymocytes are required for cDC2 homeostasis and cDC1 activation”; and in the last paragraph of that section, the text “indispensable for cDC1 and cDC2 homeostasis” has been amended to “indispensable for cDC2 homeostasis”. The caption for Fig. 4b was “Quantification of the ratios of CD45.2+:F1 donor cells within each indicated thymic DC subset from mixed BM chimeras in a” and has been amended to “Quantification of the frequencies of the indicated DC subsets within F1 or CD45.2 DCs from F1 WT + CD45.2+ WT (top) or F1 WT + CD45.2+ MHC-II−/− (bottom) mixed BM chimeras, as shown in a”. in the first paragraph of the “CD4SP thymocytes directly support cDC1 activation via cognate interactions and CD40 signaling, which enforces central tolerance” section, the sentence “MHC-II expression was required in a cell-intrinsic manner to support cDC1 homeostasis and activation” has been amended to “MHC-II expression was required in a cell-intrinsic manner to support cDC1 activation”.
